ACCA Professional Syllabus: The Strategic Level
Strategic Professional is the final ACCA level - where technical skill becomes leadership, judgement and strategy. Two Essentials that everyone takes, plus two Options you choose. Here is the top of the qualification at a glance.
1The two Essentials
Every student sits both of these - leadership and reporting at strategic depth.
Strategic Business Leader
A case-study paper built around a single organisation, integrating leadership, strategy, governance, risk, ethics and technology. It rewards professional application and clear communication, not memorised lists - you think like an adviser to the business.
★ Everyone takes it · case studyStrategic Business Reporting
Reporting at the highest level - applying and evaluating IFRS, and explaining the numbers to different stakeholders. It builds straight on Financial Reporting, but the focus shifts to judgement and communication.
2Choose two Options
Pick two of these four - match them to your career and your strengths.
Advanced Financial Management
Senior finance decisions - advanced valuations, risk management and hedging, mergers and acquisitions, and treasury. The natural next step after FM for a corporate-finance direction.
Advanced Performance Management
Strategic performance measurement and management-control systems - designing and evaluating how an organisation tracks and improves performance. Builds on PM with a strategic lens.
Advanced Taxation
Advanced tax planning for individuals and businesses, including the interaction of taxes. Jurisdiction-specific like TX - you sit a chosen variant, so confirm which applies on accaglobal.com.
Advanced Audit and Assurance
Audit and assurance at the top level - planning complex engagements, evidence, reporting, and professional and ethical judgement. The natural pair with AA and SBR.
3Where to focus
This level is about judgement and writing well under time.
Choose Options that fit you

Drill the case-study skill
SBL and SBR reward reading a scenario and responding as a professional. Practise full, timed constructed-response answers, not just theory.
Writing SBL like a memory test
Reciting frameworks scores little. Apply them to the organisation in front of you and communicate a clear recommendation.
Leaving EPSM unfinished
The Ethics and Professional Skills module belongs around this level. Complete it so it never blocks your path to membership.
