What is the difference between Receipts and Payments Account and Income and Expenditure Account? A. A Receipts and Payments Account is a summary of the cash book prepared on cash basis and includes both capital and revenue items, while an Income and Expenditure Account is essentially a Profit and Loss Account prepared on accrual basis and includes only revenue items. Q2. What is Capital Fund in an NPO? A. Capital Fund, also known as General Fund or Accumulated Fund, is the equivalent of capital in a Not-For-Profit Organisation, and any surplus is added to it while any deficit is deducted from it. Q3. How should a general donation be treated if the question doesn't specify its nature? A. If the question is silent, a general donation should be treated as a revenue receipt and recorded on the income side of the Income and Expenditure Account. Q4. How should an admission or entrance fee be treated if the question is silent? A. If the question is silent, admission or entrance fees should be treated as a capital receipt and added to the Capital Fund, except in the case of an educational institution, where it is treated as revenue. Q5. What are the two methods of accounting for Life Membership Fees? A. Under the first method, the entire life membership fee is shown as a liability until the member's death, after which it is transferred to Capital Fund; under the second method, an amount equal to the annual subscription is credited to Income and Expenditure each year until the fee is exhausted, with any remaining balance transferred to Capital Fund on the member's death. Q6. Is Financial Statements of NPO an important chapter for CMA Inter Group 1? A. Yes, this chapter is regularly tested in CMA Inter Paper 6 Financial Accounting, and questions requiring conversion between Receipts and Payments and Income and Expenditure Accounts appear frequently, sometimes in the reverse direction as well. ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 Introduction — What is an NPO? 1:35 Receipts and Payments Account 3:24 Income and Expenditure Account 5:01 Balance Sheet & Capital Fund 6:29 Donation — General vs Specific 8:49 Legacy Received 10:12 Life Membership Fees — 2 Methods 12:37 Specific Donation & Specific Funds 14:38 The 4 Adjustments Rule 20:47 Sum 1: Free Medical Society — Full Solution 1:00:53 Reverse Question Type Explained 1:03:38 Sum 2: Bombay Swimming Club — Full Solution 1:34:07 Closing & Recap 🔔 Subscribe for more One Shot Revisions of CMA Inter Group 1 & Group 2 — Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting & more, only on this channel! 📲 Follow for updates: 📚 Join Our CA/ CMA Foundation & Intermediate Classes 👉 Modes: Face-to-Face (Kolkata), Live Online, Google Drive, and Pendrive 📞 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩: / 🌐 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭: ‎🌐 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: 🌐 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: 🌐 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: Click Below and Download the PDF used in this Video: #CMAInter #NPO #FinancialAccounting #NotForProfitOrganisation
