Backend Engineer Walks Into a Finance Interview… Here’s What Happened | SSEI Career Bootcamp
A CFA qualification can get finance on your resume. But can you actually defend your candidature when the interview begins? Shrey Gupta, a CFA Level II student, came into this SSEI's mock interview with a backend engineering background and the ambition to transition into finance. The interview was taken by Sanjay Saraf Sir, Founder & Lead Instructor, SSEI and Vidyut Kauntia, CEO, SSEI, Ex- Uber & SWVL and the questions quickly moved beyond textbook knowledge: → Why should we hire you for finance? → Walk us through a DCF model. → Name a company you have actually researched. → What are its revenue drivers, margins and valuation? → How can your technology experience create value on a trading desk? The biggest takeaway? Knowing finance and being interview-ready for finance are two very different things. This mock interview was part of an SSEI initiative to understand how prepared students really are for actual finance interviews. It revealed a common gap — candidates may have the knowledge and qualifications, but often struggle to present their profile, communicate their value and apply concepts under pressure. At the SSEI Career Bootcamp, you work on how you present your profile, communicate your value and perform when the interview actually begins. 🚀 🔗 Register Now: 📞 For queries or admissions, connect with our counsellors: Or, click the link to chat with us:
