From the basics to advanced Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), learning becomes simple when concepts are taught with clarity and experience. This is more than teaching—it’s expertise made easy for every student. -------------------- Hey everyone, let's talk about the Accrual Concept in accounting! 📈 Did you know that a Profit and Loss (P&L) statement is prepared using the accrual concept? This means an expense is recorded in your P&L statement exactly when it is incurred, and the actual payment timing is totally immaterial! Whether you pay earlier or later, it makes absolutely no difference. You simply do not write it in the P&L until the expense is actually incurred or accrued. If you pay beforehand, that's just considered an advance payment! Payment timing never decides when an expense accrues. For example, your rent or salary is only considered accrued after the month officially ends. Think about going out for breakfast 🥞—the expense accrues the moment they give you the food, even though you only pay the bill later after you finish eating! The exact same logic applies to income! 💸 It is recorded in the P&L when it is earned, and the timing of the receipt is immaterial. Generally, "expense for the year" simply denotes what was incurred, while "income for the year" denotes what was earned. Imagine your total rent for the year is ₹1,20,000. Even if you haven't paid a single rupee, your entire rent is outstanding, but you must still record the full ₹1,20,000 in your P&L because that rent has accrued! Many people mistakenly think "accrued" means "outstanding." But here is the golden rule: an expense that is accrued but unpaid is what we call outstanding! #AccountingBasics #AccrualConcept #FinanceTips #CommerceStudents #LearnAccounting #AccrualConcept #AccountingBasics #IndAS #AccountingStudents #FinanceLearning #ConceptClarity #LearnAccounting #CommerceStudents #AccountingConcepts #FinancialReporting
