What is a Dependent Branch? A. A branch where (1) all goods are supplied by Head Office, (2) all branch expenses are paid by Head Office, and (3) the books are maintained by Head Office. In exams, the easiest test is: who maintains the branch books? Q2. Which methods are used for a Dependent Branch? A. Stock & Debtors Method, Debtors Method and Final Account Method. All give the same profit, so use the method the question asks for. If none is given, use Stock & Debtors or Debtors Method with a note. Q3. What does Daily Remittance imply? A. Opening and closing Branch Cash are zero, total collection equals total remittance, and all branch expenses are paid by Head Office. Q4. How are goods sent at Invoice Price treated? A. Record opening stock, closing stock, goods sent and goods returned at invoice price, reverse the loading immediately through the Branch Adjustment Account, and transfer any nominal gross profit to the Branch Adjustment Account. Q5. What is a Retail Branch and how does it differ? A. A retail branch sells only to customers at retail price. Only the retail profit belongs to the branch. The wholesale profit belongs to Head Office. Branch Stock is kept at wholesale price but no loading reversal or Branch Adjustment Account is created, and the gross profit goes directly to Branch P&L. Q6. What is Inter-Branch Transfer (IBT)? A. When one branch sends cash or goods to another branch through Head Office instructions. In HO books, debit the receiving branch and credit the sending branch. Q7. How are Foreign Branch figures translated? A. Fixed assets at actual rate (IFO) or closing rate (NIFO), current assets and liabilities at closing rate, income and expenses at average rate, opening stock at opening rate, and HO/Branch current account balances taken as they stand in HO books. The difference is exchange gain/loss (IFO) or goes to FCTR (NIFO). ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 Introduction & Branch Types 4:57 Chapter Structure & 3 Methods 7:04 Stock & Debtors Method 20:01 Daily Remittance & Petty Cash 24:30 Sum 1: Bombay Trading Co. 48:04 Goods at Invoice Price 54:20 Sum 2: Hindustan Industries 1:24:52 Retail Branch (Sums 3 & 4) 1:51:48 Debtors Method (Sums 1 & 5) 2:30:30 Final Account Method 2:42:11 Independent Branch & IBT 2:59:10 Foreign Branch (Sum 7) 3:35:24 Closing 📲 Follow for updates: 📚 Join Our CA/ CMA Foundation & Intermediate Classes 👉 Modes: Face-to-Face (Kolkata), Live Online, Google Drive, and Pendrive 📞 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩: / 🌐 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭: ‎🌐 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: 🌐 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: 🌐 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: Download the PDF used in this video here: #CMAInter #BranchAccounting #FinancialAccounting
