Why are Departmental Accounts prepared? A. They help management find the profit or loss of each department or product separately, which supports decisions such as continuing, expanding or closing a department. They are prepared for internal reporting only and are not given to outsiders such as shareholders. Q2. What is the difference between a Trading Department and a Manufacturing Department? A. In a trading department, goods are only bought and sold, and one department does not send goods to another. In a manufacturing department, one department sends its output to another department for further processing, so Inter-Departmental Transfer (IDT) takes place. Q3. How are common expenses allocated among departments? A. On a suitable basis: purchase-related items in the purchase ratio, sales-related items in the sales ratio, rent in floor area, depreciation in value of assets, salaries or welfare in number of employees, and electricity in units consumed. Q4. What happens to expenses that cannot be allocated? A. They are treated as unallocated expenses and charged to the General (Business) Profit and Loss Account, not to the departmental P&L. Q5. When is Stock Reserve (Unrealised Profit) calculated? A. When (i) there is an IDT, (ii) the IDT is made at selling price or invoice price rather than cost, and (iii) some stock out of that IDT still remains with the receiving department. Q6. How is the GP Ratio of the sending department calculated for stock reserve? A. GP ÷ (Sales + IDT) × 100, using the sending department's trading account. Q7. When is Opening Stock Reserve not calculated? A. When there is no opening stock in the receiving department, when opening stock is already at cost to the company, when it does not include IDT goods, or when the opening stock reserve is already given in the question. Q8. What is the overall GP ratio? A. Total Gross Profit ÷ Total Sales × 100. If all departments earn the same GP ratio, the overall ratio equals each department's ratio. ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 Introduction & Why Departmental Accounts 3:03 Trading vs Manufacturing Departments 6:06 Allocation of Common Expenses 8:57 Sum 1: Messrs Omega (Trading Departments) 33:14 Manufacturing Departments — IDT & Stock Reserve 42:47 Sum 2: Cloth & Readymade Cloth 1:05:10 Overall GP Ratio Concept 1:06:25 Sum 3: Departments A, B, C 1:30:07 Chain Transfer & Closing 🔔 Subscribe for more One Shot Revisions of CMA Inter Group 1 & Group 2 — Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting & more, only on this channel! 📲 Follow for updates: 📚 Join Our CA/ CMA Foundation & Intermediate Classes 👉 Modes: Face-to-Face (Kolkata), Live Online, Google Drive, and Pendrive 📞 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩: / 🌐 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭: ‎🌐 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: 🌐 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: 🌐 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: Download the PDF used in this video here: #CMAInter #DepartmentalAccounts #FinancialAccounting
