Is Ind AS Still Relevant? Ind AS Applicability in 2026–27 | Who Needs to Follow | Newly Listed Co.?
Now that we are sitting in FY 2026–27, discussing old transition phases doesn’t really make sense. But one thing should be absolutely clear. As of today: Every listed company and every unlisted company with net worth ≥ ₹250 crore must be Ind AS compliant. If a company is already compliant, then first-time adoption is not relevant for them. But that doesn’t mean Ind AS is over. Think about this. If a company becomes listed today, even with a smaller net worth, it will have to follow Ind AS. Also, if an unlisted company: has net worth of ₹220 crore today, and crosses ₹250 crore this year or next year, then from the next financial year, it must shift to Ind AS. One important point: Net worth is taken from the balance sheet. Market capitalization is not considered. So clearly, Ind AS is still fully relevant. It applies to: Newly listed companies and companies newly crossing ₹250 crore net worth. Final line: Ind AS is not something of the past — it continues to apply whenever a company newly qualifies. #IndAS #IndASApplicability #IndAS101 #AccountingStandards #CAInter #CAStudents #FinanceConcepts #ConceptClarity #LearnAccounting #CommerceStudents #StudySmart #ExamPrep #CorporateAccounting #NetWorth #FinancialReporting
