While I appreciate the Institute’s efforts to maintain high professional standards, there are certain concerns shared by the student community that I wish to bring to your attention: 1. *Abrupt Shift in Examination Pattern:* The May 2026 AFM paper deviated significantly from the established trends and patterns seen in previous attempts and ICAI’s own mock test papers. While testing conceptual depth is vital, the sudden transition to a completely unique question style—without prior guidance or indicative material—resulted in undue panic and confusion among candidates during the exam. 2. *Time Constraint & Length:* The paper was exceptionally lengthy. The 30 marks allocated to MCQs required extensive time for calculation and reasoning, leaving insufficient time for the descriptive section. Even for well-prepared candidates, completing the paper within the 3-hour window was practically unfeasible. 3. *Impact on Successive Papers:* The unexpected nature of this paper caused significant mental distress and demotivation, which unfortunately hindered many students' focus and performance in the subsequent Audit examination. *My Requests:* In light of the above, I humbly request the Examination Committee to: 1. Review the paper’s difficulty level and consider *lenient evaluation or the awarding of grace marks* where appropriate. 2. Provide clearer guidance or updated sample papers in the future when a major shift in testing philosophy is intended.
