What is the difference between an error and fraud? A. An error is an unintentional mistake made in the books of accounts, whereas fraud is an intentional mistake. Rectification of Errors deals only with errors and does not cover fraud. Q2. What are the types of errors in accounting? A. Errors are classified into Errors of Principle and Clerical Errors. Clerical Errors are further divided into Errors of Omission (complete or partial), Errors of Commission, and Compensating Errors. Q3. Which errors do not affect the Trial Balance? A. Errors of Principle, Complete Omission, and Compensating Errors do not affect the agreement of the Trial Balance, while Partial Omission causes the Trial Balance to disagree. Q4. What are the three stages of rectification? A. Stage 1 is before preparation of the Trial Balance, Stage 2 is after preparing the Trial Balance but before Final Accounts, and Stage 3 is after preparation of Final Accounts. Q5. When is the Suspense Account used in rectification? A. The Suspense Account is used only for one-sided errors at Stage 2 and Stage 3, since the Trial Balance has already been prepared and the difference was parked in Suspense. In Stage 1, one-sided errors are corrected directly inside the account without a journal entry. Q6. Why is Profit & Loss Adjustment Account used in Stage 3? A. Since the books of the previous year are already closed, errors discovered in the next year cannot be adjusted through nominal accounts of the current year, so nominal accounts are replaced by the Profit & Loss Adjustment Account. Q7. What should I assume if the question does not mention the stage of rectification? A. Assume Stage 2 and solve the problem accordingly. ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 Introduction 0:37 Error vs Fraud 1:39 Types of Errors 6:39 One-Sided vs Two-Sided Errors 7:34 Day Books & Rules to Find the Error 14:21 3 Stages of Rectification 16:25 Practice Examples — All 3 Stages 47:20 Rule When Stage Is Silent 47:50 Sum 1: Ram Prasad & Sons — 12 Errors 1:14:14 Sum 2: Trial Balance Difference — Stage 2 with Suspense A/c 1:30:40 Sum 3: Stage 3 with P&L Adjustment A/c 1:50:20 Effect on Profit — Chart Method 1:52:40 Closing Tips 🔔 Subscribe for more One Shot Revisions of CMA Inter Group 1 & Group 2 — Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting & more, only on this channel! 📲 Follow for updates: 📚 Join Our CA/ CMA Foundation & Intermediate Classes 👉 Modes: Face-to-Face (Kolkata), Live Online, Google Drive, and Pendrive 📞 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩: / 🌐 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭: 🌐 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: 🌐 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: 🌐 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes to help CMA Intermediate students revise for their exams.
