Notes to Accounts Explained - for a new CA Inter Entrant | Where Real Details Lie | CA Inter 2027
Notes on Accounts – Simple Understanding Let’s understand this in a very simple way. Suppose in the Balance Sheet, you see: Trade Receivables – ₹400 crore This appears on the asset side It is a current asset But notice this: In the Balance Sheet, you will only see a single line: Trade Receivables – ₹400 crore Where are the details? If you go to Notes to Accounts (for example, Note No. 9 – Trade Receivables), you will find full details like: Sundry Debtors Bills Receivable And more importantly: Age-wise breakup: Less than 1 year 1–2 years 2–3 years 3–5 years More than 5 years Why is this important? The older the debtor, the higher the chance of default (bad debts). That’s why you will also see Provision for Bad Debts. Core Concept: The Balance Sheet shows only a summary. The real details are in the Notes to Accounts. “The devil lies in the details — and the details are in the Notes to Accounts.” #CAInter #AdvancedAccounting #NotesToAccounts #FinancialStatements #AccountingConcepts #CAStudents #CommerceStudents #AccountingBasics #BalanceSheet #StudySmart #ConceptClarity
